One of the Twitter threads of Naval is very famous: How to get rich ( without getting lucky), In this thread, he is talking about ways to create wealth, leverage, attaining specific knowledge, building relationships, and operating startups. Some of my favorite chunks of it :

  • Seek wealth, not money or status. Wealth is having assets that earn while you sleep. Money is how we transfer time and wealth. Status is your place in the social hierarchy.
  • Specific Knowledge is the knowledge that you cannot be trained for. If society can train you, it can train someone else, and replace you.
  • You are not going to get rich renting out your time. You must own equity-a piece of a business-to gain your financial freedom.
  • Work as hard as you can. Even though who you work with and what you work on are more important than how hard you work.
  • Pick up industry where you can play long terms games with long-term people.
  • You will get rich by giving society what it wants but does not yet know how to get, At scale.
  • When you're finally wealthy, you will realize that it wasn't what you were seeking in the first place. But that's for another day.
  • Money is not going to solve your whole problem but it gonna solve your all-money problems.

  • The mind gives up before the body.
  • Engineers are creators, after all...
  • Self-awareness is the most attractive trait.
  • Never write prose when you can write poetry.
  • Be wary of anything that starts with the word "social".
  • Pain is a fact, Suffering is a choice.
  • Our temporary solution to temporary problems has become a permanent problem.
  • The more seriously you take yourself, the unhappier you are going to be.

  • A Startup is a theory about something the market wants but doesn't yet exist.
  • Instead of pivoting your startup, jump.
  • If you must pivot your company, take both feet off the ground, and jump.
  • The product is the resume for the team.
  • Time spent has nothing to do with the job done.
  • A taste of freedom can make you unemployable.
